Charlene R. McAbee serves as Senior Counsel of Hardwick Law Firm, LLC (“Hardwick”). As Senior Counsel, she participates in Hardwick’s Pennsylvania municipal and commercial real estate practices. Ms. McAbee assists in the review of bond and other financing and security documents, legal research and due diligence. Ms. McAbee couples her substantial legal skills with her experience as an owner and manager of a light industrial facility. She advises clients on the acquisition, development, redevelopment and management of commercial real estate projects.

Formerly Ms. McAbee served on the Board of Directors of the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center (COTRAIC). She is also listed on the roles of COTRAIC, as an urban Indian, in that her family began the center in the late 1960’s. Ms. McAbee has worked on Native American legal issues for many years. She is particularly interested in Native American Gaming. The industrial facility she owns holds the prestigious Pennsylvania Gaming Service Provider Registration, certified by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Ms. McAbee had formally established herself with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Labor which spanned over thirty years. She administered the state Employment Security Special Manpower Program, was an Employment Security Administrator for Southwestern PA, next as an Employment Security Executive overseeing the Department of Labor literacy programs statewide and last appointed by former Governor Robert P. Casey, as a Referee Judge for Unemployment Compensation. Currently Ms. McAbee is: an adjunct trainer for Allegheny County Community College, arbitrator for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, member of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Board for Unemployment Compensation Referee Judges in Southwestern PA.

Some of her previous accomplishments include:

  • Serving on the Board of Governors for the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association;
  • Serving as a Pennsylvania Contract Negotiator for Unemployment Compensation Referee Judges;
  • Serving on the Borough of Churchill Zoning Board.
  • Board member of the Pennsylvania Learning Network;
  • Honors Convocation Speaker at Seton Hill University; and
  • Commissioner for the Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise
